New Binders and Sharpened Pencils

I am feeling that tingle of excitement…the thrill I always get when I prepare to start a new school year. For me, September is the start of my own new year—not the calendar year, nor my birth month, but the new school year represents to me a clean slate, a time for resolutions, excitement, and, as my Vipassana teacher would say, “sitting with strong determination.”

Today I went to the Salvation Army and bought four new binders, one for each course, for the grand total of 75 cents! Seeing those binders stacked in my office, ready to be labeled and supplied with clean notebook paper, I begin the courtship between myself and my work. Like a new boyfriend, I start imagining life with “him” in married life. Once the deal is consummated (i.e. once I get my certification and license), my husband and I can start the next conquest: that of finding a job in an exotic locale. (N.B., if you are new to my blog, you should know that while I am a professional psychic, I am also a teacher. I recently resigned from my job as Principal of a boarding school so I could do the coursework necessary for my Nevada teaching license, as my qualifications from England weren’t recognized here.)

So what has this got to do with being psychic? Directly, not much, really! But if we think laterally, it is so important to remember to let yourself fantasize, romanticize, and daydream.  Create moving, living, breathing, smelling, touching, tasting pictures of yourself having a fabulous time when you achieve a goal. Let yourself get excited about what you are doing to reach that goal, even if it doesn’t seem glamorous at the moment!

Believe me, sitting through Math 096 or “Teaching and Learning: Curriculum for Secondary Ed Social Studies” this semester doesn’t exactly make me tremble with anticipation. But, oh! Imagining myself getting a job offer to go teach in Indonesia, or China, or Turkey, or England, or somewhere else like that…now THAT’S what I call a good time! For you, it might be walking into your own office after your promotion, or seeing your art hanging in a gallery, or seeing a much bigger paycheck go into your bank account, or any number of things. If you are willing to work for it, then make sure it’s important to you and will bring you joy and satisfaction.

You’ll know when you really want something when your body wants it, not just your mind. Like a new crush, contemplating achieving your goal should make your heart beat faster, your breath a little shorter, and your stomach just a little jittery. It should make you smile before you even know you’re smiling. Candace Pert writes about the “molecules of emotions,” and she’s right! True emotion, true conviction, being truly authentic will ring a bell inside you that is unmistakable. Your chakras will start spinning faster, because tapping into your own authenticity will cause an energetic alignment that will increase your etheric and your physical energy dramatically.

Enjoy!
